  • 30th April 2017- Alternative Memorial Day

The Israeli-Palestinian Alternative Memorial Day Ceremony, which has been held following Israeli Memorial Day for the last twelve consecutive years, comes to remind us that war is not an act of fate but one of human choice. On this particularly difficult day, Israelis and Palestinians acknowledge the pain and the aspirations of those living on the “other side” and strive to prevent the next wave of violence. Israeli and Palestinian bereaved families speak about their personal pain along with musical and artistic performances.”

The Debate for Peace program brings together Arab and Jewish students from all over Israel to participate in Model United Nations conferences, where they debate, negotiate and ultimately attempt to resolve the most difficult and pressing challenges in international relations.

From April 28-30, Debate for Peace, together with Dr. Dalia Fadila’s Q School, is leading a 19 student delegation to the BTMUN conference in Romania. This will be the first joint Jewish-Arab high school delegation from Israel to attend an MUN conference abroad, with students coming from seven cities and ten schools. As part of the preparation, the students will be learning about Romania and Romanian history, in addition to the subject matter of the conference itself.
